For twenty-two years I taught economics to teenagers. Every summer, my family drove to Myrtle Beach — and every time that salt air hit, something in me exhaled.
Nine years ago a boutique came available here on the coast. My husband Tom looked at me across the kitchen table and didn't say a word. He didn't have to.
I handed in my notice. We moved. And on a warm April morning I opened the door of Mary's Boutique for the very first time.
Now I'm sixty-three, and it's time to retire.
Not because something went wrong.
Because something went beautifully right — and I'm wise enough to know when a story has reached its ending.
This is my retirement sale. Every piece I ever chose for this boutique was chosen with one woman in mind — the real one, not the one on the hanger. That hasn't changed.
Everything must go, at the lowest prices I've ever offered.
Find something that makes you stop. Trust that feeling. I built this place around exactly that moment.
With love,
Mary Sullivan
